EDIT: Forget everything written below. I'm writing 50k more of False Rose. I can't get in the mind of Tammy. :C

I fell asleep last night at 11:30, my computer on my lap. HOW LAME IS THAT? However, my alarm woke me up 45 minutes and gave me a present - November 1st, the beginning of NaNoWriMo.

This year, I don't think I'll be posting it every day in my gallery. Why? Because this novel I'm not going to care about. I'm going to throw ninjas at the wall and see what happens. People will be killed, and they may even come back. It will not be serious, and it will not be planned. It will also be chock full of plagiarism (dialogue mainly), but it will be soooo much fun for me and only me. I will also be following the calendar *Kianara-Titan and I created:

Day 1: Start with a fake epigraph
Day 2: Phrase "rose among the thorns" must be used
Day 3: someone must wear something embarrassing, must be described
Day 4: Include a snobbish attorney
Day 5: An act of arson
Day 6: Assassination
Day 7: flashback to bad parenting
Day 8: Sailor named Daetor must flirt with female character
Day 9: song must be sung
Day 10: Ligers
Day 11: a character mocks a local tradition and gets beaten with some form of food product
Day 12: One or more main characters get drunk
Day 13: High superstitious minor character
Day 14: Include a philandering foreigner
Day 15: Somebody loses their virginity (minor character acceptable)
Day 16: have a character subtly enact a favorite MLIA/FML
Day 17: characters must visit a natural wonder
Day 18: somebody must attempt/commit suicide
Day 19: snow scene
Day 20: accidental kiss
Day 21: have a love triangle become painfully obvious/awkward
Day 22: Lightsaber/invisible sword battle
Day 23: A pretentious child must make a sarcastic comment to your main characters
Day 24: main character receives a nickname they do not wish to have
Day 25: On purpose kiss between non-married characters
Day 26: somebody breaks a bone
Day 27: Include a debate on the finer points of rare animal breeding
Day 28: Major character dies
Day 29: epic fight scene (epicness must be verified by 3 outside sources)
Day 30: Protagonist rejects primary love interest

Overall
include traveling shovel of death

So expect all of these things. Just don't expect to read it.

NaNoWriMo '09

Well, there are 10 days to NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month. Most of you were my watchers last year during the False Rose novel, so you know what to expect. For you others, expect lots of days of small text submissions and concept art, and not much time left for anything else.

Now, on to the real purpose of this post. WHAT AM I WRITING ABOUT?

Well, originally I was going to either write the next 50k of FR, or write my Mai-spy Avatar fanfic. Now, though, I have a completely different idea.

I'm writing a fanfic.

For Tamora Pierce.

Tamora writes straight-up medieval fantasy. Her Tortall series is the one I'm focusing on, and it so far has five sagas following five different heroines. The one I'm fanficcing for is ';Protector of the Small,' and will be the sagas of Sir Alanna the Lioness, King's Champion, and sole lady knight of the realm, and her overgrown squire Neal. If you've read the books you know what I mean. If you haven't, do so if you wish for anything I write to make any sense xD

That's the status of this year's NaNoWriMo. FR has actually been getting some more attention in recent days, which is nice. I've been editing it, taking out minor plot points I didn't like/didn't need, formatting it, etc. etc. It shall be finished... eventually.

sometimes people are strange.

Journal Entry: Thu Oct 15, 2009, 10:07 PM
Mkay, this is a bit of a personal rant because I need to rant to somebody now and no one's online. I apologize in advance, and also forewarn that any questions asked in said rant are rhetorical.

FACT: People are weird.

Let me clarify. I just voted online for my senior class's Who's Who. I'm not going to brag, but I'm one of the most technically smart girls in my class. I KNOW people nominated me. I KNOW for a fact that I have one of the highest ACT scores in the school. However, I am not even on the finalist list of the Most Intellectual page. Not being condescending to the three girls on there - they are smart and deserve to be up there too - but why? My class - whom I always believed pigeonholed me as 'the smart girl' - declined to put me up there and instead I'm surprised at being one of the three Most Artistic.

I'd thought I'd kept my art fairly confined. I mean, my friends/people I like/my English class knows I draw too much, but that's not the bulk of my class. Most of them don't even know I draw at ALL, let alone draw well. Every now and then someone will look over my shoulder and I'll semi-hide it and they'll go 'that's really good!' and walk away. I'm like 'eh' and keep drawing.

Thing is... I don't think I'll win it. There are two other girls in my grade - one's in my AP Art class - who are equally as talented as me if not more and, more importantly in a class of 250+, are more public about their art skills. Also, they've been artsy far longer than I have - since at least middle school - when I didn't start getting good until, like, last year.

But then again, look where I am. I'm ranting on my favorite social networking site that revolves around art; the first thing I did after I realized I was mad was draw spam on the ASN oekaki. (I plan on drawing penance for that spam tomorrow.) I apply Sharpies to my skin constantly, and my school papers are covered in half-formed faces and characters. I have obtained a rather vast technical knowledge of my desired art fields (for an average seventeen-year-old), and typically flaunt painted shoes and graphite-covered hands. Why wouldn't I consider myself Most Artistic?

Furthermore, why would I consider myself Most Intellectual? I mean, I test well, and I was the only girl to be a National Merit Semifinalist, but I don't apply myself to my grades in school. I've kept steady high B's in most of my classes, which doesn't really scream 'Intellectual!" to me. I'm quick on my feet with mental math, but I attribute that to five years training in math team. Every now and then I'll do something I consider normal and have people asking me to slow down or wonder at me - beating the calculator during math prep for the SAT always makes me happy inside - but since when was that important?

Gah I'm just one floating hunk of hypocrisy.

Then again... so is the rest of the human population.

I'm just glad I voted tonight, online, spontaneously, with no one in my school around to hear me scream into the night.

AP Art Portfolio

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 10, 2009, 9:34 PM
EDIT: Two things. One, I got a 486/500 on my portfolio which is AWESOME. Two, I just read chapter 100 of FMA and I just faced a Blue Screen of Death. Literally.

Thought you ought to know.
~~
Quick journal entry. The status of my FNT entry is about 1/2 done with the lines. I shall be working on it shortly, but first I wanted to show you all what I ended up turning in for my summer work (five pieces of quality art that were due today aka the end of the nine weeks for AP Art). Thank the gods Dr. Mac let me do them all digital.

The five things I turned in are:

  • Mood: Wow!
  • Listening to: our high school actually winning at football
  • Reading: The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood
  • Watching: Mean Girls
  • Eating: a hot dog
